BARLOG Plastics – sustainably innovative at Formnext 2022 in Frankfurt/Main
Overath, 21.11.2022, Additive manufacturing technologies – this was the theme of Formnext, which took place from 15 – 18 November 2022 in Frankfurt/Main. The family-run company BARLOG Plastics was on site as an exhibitor and presented, in addition to various additive manufacturing processes, that rapid tooling can also exist excellently as a supplement. In addition, BARLOG Plastics offered solutions with its new “ECO-Consulting” service, which focuses on both the conservation of resources and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
BARLOG Plastics – Sustainable and innovative all along the line
Future-oriented technologies and innovative ideas impressed visitors to this year’s Formnext, the industry meeting place for additive manufacturing. “We were delighted to welcome so many visitors to our stand E08 in Hall 12.1,” explains Tobias Haedecke, Head of Engineering & CAE and Rapid Tooling expert at BARLOG Plastics. “So we too, both as a service provider in 3D printing and as an injection moulding expert and one of the technology leaders in the field of prototyping, were able to hold a large number of very fruitful discussions at our stand.” In addition to sustainable compounds, the possibilities of sustainable product development were particularly in demand among the technology scouts.
Sustainable product development is more important today than ever
“Our new ECO-Consulting service offer was particularly well received,” says Tobias Haedecke. This new service includes three service modules: Eco-Selection supports the customer in selecting the right material for the planned component, taking resources into account. Eco-Design forms the second service module, which offers the joint development of the best possible component design with regard to Design-for-Repair and Design-for-Recycling.
By simulating the production cycle, Eco-Simulation reveals whether and where cycle time reductions or better tempering layouts are possible. “We also offer our customers several other development services,” adds Haedecke. “These can be ordered as a complete package or individually.”
Additive manufacturing and rapid tooling as an optimal complement
BARLOG Plastics is characterised by years of know-how in both additive manufacturing processes and injection moulding. This means that it can be decided individually in the interests of the customer which process is the most suitable for him. “Rapid tooling and 3D printing are not in competition with each other, but complement each other perfectly,” explains Haedecke.
Because with rapid tooling and complementary technologies, BARLOG Plastics creates injection moulds economically and quickly within a few days, which can be used for the qualified production of small series. “This gives our customers the competitive edge they need to stand out from the competition,” adds Tobias Haedecke.
