BARLOG Plastics at KUTENO 2026: Material innovations, sustainability tools, and flexible manufacturing concepts

Overath, May 20, 2026 – At KUTENO 2026, BARLOG Plastics GmbH will present a wide range of material and service innovations across the entire plastics technology value chain in Hall 20, Booth K19. The focus will be on current issues related to regulatory requirements, sustainable product development, and efficient manufacturing solutions.

High-Performance Materials: New KEBAPEAK PEKK Compounds

With the new KEBAPEAK 9000 product series, BARLOG Plastics is introducing high-performance compounds based on PEKK that significantly expand the range of applications for high-performance thermoplastics. With a heat resistance of up to 385 °C, these materials enable applications in temperature ranges that were previously difficult to access. A key feature of the new compounds is the combination of high temperature resistance and a high degree of crystallinity. This results in high mechanical strength as well as reduced wear even under demanding tribological conditions and high surface pressures.

PFAS-free plain bearing materials as a response to increasing regulatory requirements

PFAS-free tribological compounds are a key focus at the trade show booth. Against the backdrop of the ECHA proposal to regulate per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, the need for alternatives to PTFE-modified materials is growing. BARLOG Plastics addresses this challenge with application-specific material developments: Instead of a universal replacement material, the company relies on individually tailored solutions. Applications are specifically analyzed for temperature behavior, chemical resistance, and mechanical stress. Based on this, specially developed filler concepts are used that do not contain PTFE yet still achieve very good friction and wear properties in tribological applications.

Making sustainability measurable: ECO-Consulting and digital tools

Another focus is on holistic sustainability solutions in the product development process. With ECO-Selection, BARLOG Plastics supports material selection not only from technical and economic perspectives but also from an ecological standpoint. In addition, the ECO-Design Service aims to optimize components while taking into account carbon footprint, repairability, and recyclability. With ECO-Simulation and the ECO-Calculator, the company provides digital tools that enable early assessment of environmental impacts. By linking these to injection molding simulation—implemented in cooperation with SIGMASOFT—simulation data can be directly incorporated into CO₂ calculations. This makes environmental metrics transparent and comparable even in early development phases.

Rapid Tooling and Flexible Manufacturing for Accelerated Development Processes

In the field of component development and manufacturing, BARLOG Plastics will showcase expanded capabilities in rapid tooling at KUTENO. The process combines the speed of additive processes with the precision of traditional injection molding tools, enabling the production of functional prototypes and small series from thermoplastics identical to those used in series production. This is supported by a broad machine portfolio: On a total of 16 injection molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 6 to 450 tons, the company performs not only standard injection molding but also 2K applications, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) processing, and plastic-metal hybrid injection molding. An additional vertical machine expands design freedom, particularly for complex component geometries.

Expansion of the KEBALLOY ECO Portfolio

At the same time, BARLOG Plastics is continuing to drive the development of sustainable high-performance compounds. The focus is on materials containing recycled content that are also suitable for technically demanding applications and can, for example, replace metallic materials.

The current development focus is on high-quality post-consumer recycled materials (PCR) that are intended to be both economically and technically compelling. The goal is to meet the rising demands for sustainable materials while simultaneously tapping into potential in the areas of lightweight construction, functional integration, and cost reduction.

Holistic Approach Along the Value Chain

With its combination of material development, component design, prototyping, and series production, BARLOG Plastics positions itself as a development partner for industrial plastic applications. The company’s exhibition presence at KUTENO 2026 particularly highlights the integration of technical performance and sustainability-oriented optimization.
