PLAS.TV expert talk on the subject of “lightweight construction

In the FAKUMA Expert Talk on PLAS.TV on the topic of “Lightweight Construction”, Peter Barlog, Managing Director of BARLOG Plastics, Horst Heckel, Product Manager LFT at EMS Grivory and Amir Tahric, Head of the MED TEC Business Unit at Netstal, among others, spoke about lightweight construction technologies and the challenges of implementation for Germany as a technology location.

Lightweight construction as a design philosophy has long since outgrown the manufactories in aerospace and automotive racing and is penetrating more and more into large-scale production. The challenges arising from this are manifold. On the one hand, it is more important than ever to focus on cost optimization when optimizing weight. On the other hand, consistent lightweight design under these conditions also requires greater interdisciplinary cooperation in product development. The resulting requirements for structural changes in the development process, the training of young engineers and skilled workers and the necessary location factors for Germany and Europe were just as much a part of the discussion as technical aspects of lightweight construction.
