BARLOG Plastics at Fakuma 2026 – ECO-Consulting for the development of resource-efficient plastic components

Overath, 5 October 2026 – At Fakuma 2026 in Friedrichshafen, BARLOG Plastics will be presenting its ECO-Consulting service offering in Hall A3 at Stand A3-3309. This consultancy approach helps companies to analyse plastic components and manufacturing processes in terms of material usage, resource consumption and carbon footprint, and to evaluate various development and manufacturing options based on defined key performance indicators.

Taking resource efficiency into account from the early stages of development

Increasing requirements regarding resource use, the documentation of CO₂ emissions and the implementation of circular economy concepts are bringing these issues increasingly into focus in product development. With ECO-Consulting, BARLOG Plastics supports its customers in assessing material, design and process decisions in terms of their technical, economic and environmental impacts.

“Key factors influencing a component’s material usage, energy requirements and carbon footprint are determined as early as the initial development phases. That is why we take a holistic view of these aspects right from the start and create transparency to enable well-informed decisions,” explains Tobias Haedecke, Technical Director at BARLOG Plastics.

Four building blocks for the analysis of plastic components and manufacturing processes

ECO-Consulting is based on four coordinated building blocks:

ECO-Selection assists in the selection of suitable materials, taking into account technical requirements, economic conditions and defined material properties.

ECO-Design analyses components in terms of material usage, recyclability and reparability, utilising, amongst other things, topology optimisation and injection moulding simulations.

ECO-Simulation examines manufacturing processes and identifies potential for optimisation in terms of energy consumption, material usage and cycle times.

The ECO-Calculator enables the effects of different material, design and process variants on the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) to be compared and presented in a transparent manner.

Experience solutions for the plastics industry live at Fakuma 2026

Visitors to Fakuma 2026 will have the opportunity to discuss approaches to analysing and optimising plastic components and their Product Carbon Footprint with experts from BARLOG Plastics.

In addition, the company will be presenting material solutions containing recycled content, PFAS-free compounds for tribological applications, and new high-performance PEKK-based materials. The portfolio is complemented by expanded manufacturing capabilities in rapid tooling, as well as the ongoing expansion of the KEBALLOY ECO programme with compounds based on recycled materials and bio-based raw materials.

With its combination of materials expertise, application-oriented development and solutions for prototype and small-batch production, BARLOG Plastics positions itself as a development partner for demanding plastics applications throughout the entire product development process.
