NEW from 2016: Injection-molded prototypes made of liquid silicone (LSR)

As of 2016, the protosys business unit of BAHSYS also offers the production of injection-molded prototypes made of liquid silicone (LSR). This group of materials enables use at high temperatures and in aggressive environments and is therefore becoming increasingly important in many areas of application.


As part of the expansion of production space and capacity in the protosys® Rapid Tooling business unit at BAHSYS, a self-contained manufacturing area was created for the production of injection-molded prototypes made of liquid silicone. protosys® will offer the production of prototypes, pre-series and small series made of LSR from 2016, thus adding this interesting group of cross-linked, flexible materials to its materials portfolio. The materials processed now range from standard plastics to engineering thermoplastics and high-performance plastics to liquid silicone.

The production of LSR prototypes is supported by the use of 3D injection molding simulations with Sigmasoft Virtual Molding and can thus be realized particularly efficiently and quickly.

You can also draw from the full range of process technologies at protosys®: from standard injection molding to multi-component injection molding to hybrid parts, many technologies are already available in the prototype stage of product development and enable important insights into the series process at an early stage of the project.
