Fakuma 2024: Sustainable plastics solutions – from the idea to series production

Overath, 27|08|2024 BARLOG Plastics GmbH will be presenting its latest developments and solutions at Fakuma, one of the leading trade fairs for industrial plastics processing, from 15 to 19 October 2024 in Hall A3, Stand 3209. The focus of the trade fair appearance will be on sustainable and functionalised plastic compounds that meet the growing demands for resource efficiency and technical performance, as well as development services to improve sustainability and accelerate market launch.

Sustainable plastic solutions for demanding applications

BARLOG Plastics focuses on innovative materials that not only fulfil the highest technical requirements, but are also environmentally friendly. These include the glass fibre-reinforced KEBALLOY ECO, based on PCR bottle PET, which serves as a sustainable and cost-effective metal substitute for dimensionally stable structural components. The range is complemented by an unreinforced KEBALLOY ECO, which can be dyed in brilliant colours and is ideal for scratch-resistant housing components.

The wide range of compounds based on mechanically and chemically recycled plastics, post-consumer recycling (PCR) and post-industrial recycling (PIR) as well as bio-based polymers is particularly noteworthy. BARLOG Plastics now offers innovative, PFAS-free alternatives for applications in which PFAS-containing materials such as PTFE were previously used. In addition, the modular system enables customised product developments that are precisely tailored to individual requirements.

Innovative solutions for electromobility

Another highlight at the trade fair stand will be functionalised compounds for electromobility. BARLOG Plastics will be presenting electrically conductive and soft magnetic materials for electromagnetically shielding housing components as well as thermally conductive compounds that optimise thermal management in electric vehicles. Magnetisable compounds for sensors and electric drives round off the portfolio and offer pioneering solutions for the automotive industry.

ECO-Consulting and ECO-Calculator consulting services

In addition to innovative materials, BARLOG Plastics offers comprehensive consulting services. With ECO-Consulting, the company supports its customers in optimising plastic components in terms of sustainability, cost-effectiveness and performance. The service includes ECO-Selection for optimal material selection, ECO-Design for resource-efficient and recyclable plastic components and ECO-Simulation, which minimises the consumption of energy, time and resources in injection moulding production.

In addition, BARLOG Plastics will be presenting the ECO-Calculator, a free online tool for calculating the product carbon footprint (PCF) of injection moulded parts. This tool enables product developers to make resource-saving and economical decisions in the early development phase.

Efficient development services

BARLOG Plastics offers time, cost and risk optimisation services for the product development of plastic parts. These include rapid tooling for the fast production of injection-moulded prototypes, pre-series and small series, including for liquid silicone (LSR) and multi-component injection moulding. In addition, CAE services (Computer Aided Engineering) are offered, which accelerate development processes through simulations and preventively avoid errors.

You will find BARLOG Plastics in hall A3, booth 3209.
