BARLOG Plastics to showcase innovations in metal replacement, engineering services, and functionalized compounds at KPA 2026

Overath, 18 February 2026 – BARLOG Plastics GmbH will be exhibiting at the Kunststoff Produkte Aktuell (KPA) 2026 trade fair. The event will take place on 25 and 26 February 2026 in Ulm and is regarded as an established industry gathering for decision-makers and developers across the plastics value chain.

At KPA, BARLOG Plastics will be presenting practical solutions at Stand 3-A22 covering metal replacement, the evaluation of material and product concepts, and functionalised compounds. The focus is on delivering tangible benefits for users: reducing costs, optimising technical properties, shortening development times and making well-informed material decisions early on in the development process.

Metal replacement: Highly reinforced plastics as a design lever for performance and cost-effectiveness

Metal replacement remains a key issue in many sectors, from mechanical engineering and electrical engineering to consumer goods. BARLOG Plastics demonstrates how highly reinforced, application-optimised compounds can be used to specifically optimise components in terms of weight, corrosion resistance and functional integration.

The focus is on material and component design concepts that meet technical requirements whilst taking total costs into account throughout the entire product development process.

Assessing material and product concepts at an early stage

The selection of the appropriate material influences numerous technical, economic and regulatory requirements of a product. At KPA 2026, BARLOG Plastics will demonstrate how companies can assess the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of various material and product concepts at an early stage of product development and incorporate this into their decision-making.

The aim is to support development and procurement decisions based on transparent key performance indicators, to compare different solution approaches, and to take technical and economic requirements into account at an early stage.

Functionalised compounds: Tailoring properties to specific requirements

In addition to traditional requirements such as strength and temperature resistance, functional properties are becoming increasingly important. These include, for example, electrical and thermal conductivity, EMC performance, chemical resistance, as well as magnetisable or tribologically optimised materials.

At KPA, BARLOG Plastics will demonstrate how functionalised compounds and the components manufactured from them can be developed in a way that is tailored to specific applications: from material selection and component design through to prototyping, as well as pre-series and small-batch production.

As part of KPA 2026, BARLOG Plastics will also be sharing its expertise on the KPA Speakers’ Corner stage in Hall 2.

On 25 February 2026, Tobias Haedecke, Technical Director at BARLOG Plastics, will speak from 11.20 to 11.35 am on the topic:

‘Taking the product carbon footprint into account and assessing it in the early stages of development’

On the following day of the trade fair, 26 February 2026, Manuel Schmellenkamp, Head of Sales at BARLOG Plastics, will give a talk from 1.00 pm to 1.15 pm entitled:

“Replacing metal with highly reinforced plastics”

explaining how companies can reduce costs, optimise technical properties and shorten development times.
