BARLOG Plastics to showcase innovations in metal replacement, sustainability, and functionalized compounds at KPA 2026
Overath, February 18, 2026 BARLOG Plastics GmbH will be exhibiting at Kunststoff Produkte Aktuell (KPA) 2026. The trade fair will take place on February 25 and 26, 2026, in Ulm and is considered an established industry meeting place for decision-makers and developers along the plastics value chain. At KPA, BARLOG Plastics will be presenting practical solutions for metal replacement, sustainable product development, and functionalized compounds at booth 3 – A22, with a clear focus on measurable customer benefits: reducing costs, increasing performance, shortening development cycles, and improving sustainability.
Metal replacement: Highly reinforced plastics as a design lever for performance and cost-effectiveness
Metal replacement remains a key issue in many industries – from mechanical engineering and electrical engineering to consumer goods. BARLOG Plastics will demonstrate how highly reinforced, application-optimized compounds can be used to design components specifically for weight reduction, corrosion resistance, and functional integration. The focus is on material and component design concepts that not only meet technical requirements but also systematically reduce overall costs.
Sustainability in development: Estimate PCF early on, make better decisions
Sustainability has long been a development parameter and not a downstream reporting value. At KPA 2026, BARLOG Plastics will address how companies can estimate the product carbon footprint (PCF) in the early stages of product development and integrate it into material and design decisions. The aim is to secure development and procurement decisions based on data, minimize risks, and achieve sustainability goals more efficiently—without losing sight of the essential technical and commercial aspects.
Functionalized compounds: Specifically adjusting properties
In addition to classic requirements such as strength and temperature resistance, functional properties are increasingly coming into focus – for example, electrical and thermal conductivity, EMC effectiveness, chemical resistance, and magnetizable or tribologically optimized materials. At KPA, BARLOG Plastics will demonstrate how functionalized compounds and the components made from them are developed in an application-oriented manner: from material selection and component design to prototyping and pre-series and small-batch production.
Two specialist presentations on the KPA Speakers Corner stage (Hall 2)
As part of KPA 2026, BARLOG Plastics will also be sharing its expertise on the KPA Speakers Corner stage in Hall 2: On February 25, 2026, Tobias Haedecke, Technical Director at BARLOG Plastics, will speak from 11:20 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. on the topic of “Sustainable product development for plastic articles – estimating the product carbon footprint at an early stage.”
On the following day of the trade fair, February 26, 2026, Manuel Schmellenkamp, Head of Sales at BARLOG Plastics, will show how companies can reduce costs, optimize product performance, and increase the development speed of their projects from 1:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. under the title “Metal replacement with highly reinforced plastics.”
Full service along the development chain
As a full-service partner, BARLOG Plastics supports companies from material development and selection to component development and simulation to prototype and small series production. Visitors to the KPA will gain concrete insights into how material expertise, engineering, and manufacturing know-how can be seamlessly combined in projects, ensuring faster market launch and robust series processes.
