Application example: Gear controller module from GRIVORY HT1VL-50X
Automotive supplier FTE Automotive relies on heat-resistant Grivory HT1, a semi-crystalline polyphthalamide (PPA) from Ems-Grivory, for the gearshift module of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission from Audi that has been newly converted into plastic. The material is characterized by very high stiffness and strength as well as excellent resistance to oils and chemicals. It retains its stiffness and strength even at high temperatures, outperforming other high-performance plastics such as PPS or PEEK. In addition, PPA offers very good dimensional stability and low warpage.
In practice, the gear module is subject to a complex load case. The highest demands are placed on the material in terms of stiffness and creep resistance at elevated temperatures, as well as low shrinkage and warpage. For this reason, Grivory HT1VL-50X is used, a PPA with special long glass fiber reinforcement of 50% by weight. With the long glass fiber reinforcement, it is possible to again significantly expand the property portfolio of the short glass fiber reinforced grade.
