EcoVadis Silver Medal for BARLOG Plastics GmbH

Overath, August 7, 2025 After BARLOG Plastics GmbH was awarded the bronze medal by sustainability rating agency EcoVadis in 2024 for its commitment to environmental and corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, the company has improved its rating this year. The result: the silver medal!

Since 2019, BARLOG has been continuously expanding its product range to include sustainable materials. The company offers a broad portfolio of high-quality compounds based on recycled materials, including PET, PC, PC/ABS, PA12, PPS, and PEEK.

BARLOG also focuses on sustainable solutions in the service sector: With its BARLOG ECO-Consulting service, the company analyzes sustainability potential – from material selection to series production – and thus supports its customers on their way to more environmentally friendly products.

BARLOG Plastics GmbH has been sourcing electricity from sustainable sources for some time now and covers its energy requirements with its own photovoltaic system, among other things. Other measures, such as the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles and the active promotion of an environmentally friendly vehicle fleet, are just a few examples of the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Sustainability and social responsibility are firmly anchored in the corporate values of BARLOG Plastics GmbH. “We are delighted to have improved our rating and to have been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal,” says Peter Barlog, managing partner of BARLOG Plastics GmbH.

Improvements in the areas of environment, labor, and human rights

From energy efficiency to minimum social standards in the supply chain, numerous CSR issues are now key factors in a company’s economic success. BARLOG Plastics made significant improvements in the categories of “Environment” and “Labor and Human Rights” in particular, earning it the EcoVadis Silver Medal.

The installation of a heat recovery system and the consistent use of renewable energies have contributed significantly to this success.

“We are proud that our commitment to sustainability is having a visible impact,” explains Nicole Lange, Sustainability Officer at BARLOG Plastics GmbH. “This award is both confirmation and motivation for us—we will continue to give sustainability the highest priority in the future. We are particularly pleased with how actively and creatively our team is involved. We listen carefully, value the exchange of ideas, and are enthusiastic about our joint commitment.”

Outlook for further areas of action

In addition to the continuous development of its sustainable product portfolio, BARLOG Plastics’ efforts in 2026 will focus primarily on tasks relating to the measurability and reporting of sustainability, environmental protection, and social and ethical responsibility.

“We are convinced that industry, and the chemical industry in particular, has a fundamental role to play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We want to make our contribution by reducing our CO2 footprint by at least 50% by 2030 compared to the reference year 2018,” concludes Peter Barlog.
