BARLOG Plastics is opening its production facilities to young explorers as part of the WDR ‘Maus’ Open Day

Overath, 28 September 2026 – Interest is high: all the guided tours on offer for the ‘Maus’ Open Day on 3 October 2026 at BARLOG Plastics are already fully booked. Under this year’s theme, ‘Little Wonders’, the plastics company is opening its doors to show registered children and their families how toys are made from plastic granules and the fascinating processes behind their manufacture.

From the idea to the finished toy

Under this year’s ‘Maus-Türöffner-Tag’ theme, ‘Little Wonders’, the plastics company from Overath is offering exciting behind-the-scenes insights into its production. BARLOG Plastics develops, manufactures and distributes engineering plastics for numerous sectors, including, for example, the automotive industry, electrical engineering, and the medical and domestic appliance sectors. Furthermore, the company supports its customers throughout the entire value chain – from material selection, through component development and design, to series production and quality assurance.

Making technology accessible

Young visitors experience first-hand how modern plastics processing works and how, with a great deal of technology, expertise and precision, an unassuming raw material is transformed into toys. During the tour, the children discover the individual production steps and learn about the machines and processes involved. It’s not just about watching: clear explanations and fascinating insights make technology and production understandable and tangible for the young guests. “We’re delighted to be part of the WDR Maus Open Day again this year and to give children the chance to get to know our world of plastics. Everyday products in particular are full of little wonders that you don’t even notice at first glance,” says Peter Barlog, managing partner of BARLOG Plastics.

Sparking interest and fostering curiosity

Through its participation, BARLOG Plastics aims to foster children’s curiosity and show just how fascinating technology and industrial production can be. ‘Maus-Türöffner-Tag’ offers a special opportunity to do just that, as on this day companies, research institutions and craft businesses across Germany open their doors to young explorers.
