Sustainable Compounds for Demanding Applications

With its KEBALLOY ECO portfolio, BARLOG Plastics offers engineering plastics and high-performance compounds based on post-consumer and post-industrial recycled materials that meet high technical requirements while making a significant contribution to the circular economy. The focus is particularly on high-quality post-consumer recycled materials that help companies achieve their sustainability goals without having to compromise on quality, process reliability, or performance. In addition, BARLOG Plastics develops customer- and application-specific concepts for so-called micro-circular economies. In this process, production residues or end-of-life components are specifically processed and reintroduced into new applications. Another focus of the company’s trade show presentation is PFAS-free plain bearing materials. Against the backdrop of planned PFAS restrictions, BARLOG Plastics is showcasing alternatives to PTFE-modified compounds that are specifically tailored to the respective application.

Since there is no universal substitute for PTFE, the company relies on application-specific material concepts. Temperature behavior, chemical resistance, and mechanical loads are taken into account just as much as the tribological requirements of the respective application. Through special filler combinations, excellent friction and wear properties can be achieved even without the use of PTFE.

In addition to sustainable material solutions and metal replacement options, BARLOG Plastics will present further innovations at Fakuma. These include the new high-performance PEKK compounds of the KEBAPEAK 9000 series, which were developed for particularly demanding applications with high temperature requirements. In addition, the company will present the ECO Calculator and its ECO Consulting services. These enable companies to transparently assess the environmental impact of their material choices, identify potential CO₂ savings, and develop more sustainable product concepts.
