New high-temperature compounds expand the application limits of thermoplastics

Overath, September 7, 2026 – Higher performance requirements, rising temperatures, and increasing demands for operational safety present developers with new challenges. With the KEBAPEAK 9000 product series, BARLOG Plastics is presenting new high-performance PEKK-based compounds at Fakuma 2026 in Hall A3, Booth A3-3309, which enable the use of thermoplastic components in temperature ranges that were previously difficult to achieve.

When other plastics reach their limits

With the KEBAPEAK 9000 product series, BARLOG Plastics is expanding its portfolio to include PEKK-based high-performance plastics for particularly demanding applications. These semi-crystalline materials combine a very high continuous service temperature with high strength, excellent dimensional stability, and good sliding and wear properties.

The materials achieve a heat resistance of up to 385 °C, thereby enabling applications in temperature ranges that were previously unattainable with many engineering plastics. The high degree of crystallinity ensures high mechanical strength and reduced wear under demanding conditions, such as in tribological applications with high contact pressures. In addition, the materials are characterized by good aging behavior and flame-retardant properties.

For users, this means greater operational reliability, longer service life, and additional design freedom when developing sophisticated components. The new PEKK compounds offer a reliable and durable solution, particularly under high thermal and mechanical loads.

Wide Range of Applications

KEBAPEAK is particularly well-suited for applications in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, the electrical and electronics industries, household appliances, as well as in oil and gas production, the defense industry, and aerospace. Wherever components must function reliably over the long term—even under extreme operating conditions—these new materials open up additional possibilities for developing high-performance and durable products.

Comprehensive solutions for modern product development

In addition to the new KEBAPEAK PEKK compounds, BARLOG Plastics will showcase further solutions at Fakuma to address the challenges of modern product development. These include PFAS-free plain bearing materials, sustainable materials containing recycled content from the KEBALLOY ECO portfolio, digital tools such as the ECO-Calculator for assessing and optimizing the carbon footprint of plastic components, and options for metal substitution.

The offering is complemented by rapid tooling services that support the fast, cost-effective, and low-risk transition of new products from concept through prototyping to series production.
