Adhesion testing of 2K composites
While the component is still in the development stage, the adhesion of the two components can be tested to select an optimum material combination. Destructive testing is necessary to assess the bond strength. For this purpose, the test can be carried out in the form of tensile loading or peel loading.
Peel loading is performed by means of the MCT test (= material compatibility test). The MCT test is a peel test based on DIN 1464 and is used to test the strength of hard-soft joints. For the test, defined strips are mechanically separated from pre-injected 2K sheets (2-components) and the components are tested for adhesion by means of a peel test. The adhesion force and the type of separation or fracture are assessed.
