BARLOG Plastics opens another plant for compounding
Overath/Windeck, March 22, 2022: BARLOG Plastics, a specialist in high-performance plastics and engineering, will open a new plant in the Rhein-Sieg district in the summer of 2022. The family-run medium-sized company has been growing successfully for 25 years and has purchased a plot of land with production halls in Dattenfeld for the next expansion stage at the end of 2021. At the new site, plastic compounds in particular are to be developed and manufactured.
BARLOG Plastics GmbH from Overath purchased a plot of land including production halls in Windeck Dattenfeld in the Rhein Sieg district at the end of 2021. “Our company is growing successfully. We could no longer meet the increasing space requirements in Overath. Dattenfeld now offers an opportunity for expansion and we are looking forward to opening our second site there in the summer of 2022,” says Peter Barlog, managing partner of BARLOG Plastics GmbH.
The entire property has a size of 11,100 sqm² the existing production hall offers enough space on 1,500 sqm² for the next growth steps for the production of high-performance plastics. The term “high-performance plastics” describes plastics with particularly high-performance properties such as high strength and heat resistance, but also special performance characteristics such as thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity or magnetizability. BARLOG Plastics’ products are used in a wide variety of durable applications, e.g. in electromobility, household appliances, drinking water supply or mechanical engineering.
Remodeling with a focus on sustainability
The production hall taken over and the adjacent office building are currently being converted and refurbished. The focus here is on sustainable solutions. Since 2021, the company has been purchasing electricity exclusively from sustainable sources and intends to cover the energy requirements of production as far as possible with its own photovoltaics and a heat recovery system.
“Sustainability plays an important role in our company. Our high-performance plastics can make important contributions to the transport and energy turnaround, for example through lightweight construction. In addition to sustainable products, we also want to significantly reduce our CO ₂ emissions in production at the new site,” says Peter Barlog.
New jobs for the Rhine-Sieg region
BARLOG Plastics currently employs a good 100 people – and the trend is rising. Due to the steady growth, the company is also creating new jobs in the Windeck region. There are currently vacancies for shift supervisors (m/f/d), production employees (m/f/d) and office staff (m/f/d) (see also the careers section of the website: www.barlog.de/karriere.
